Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our current prices are $A800 for a single page site or $A2000 for a multi-page site. This includes:

    • the development, construction and publication of your brand new site

    • any minor changes and enhancements you want to make to your site for the first three months after it goes live. After the first three months, charges will apply for any additional changes you require - but our aim will be to ensure the site is how you want it from the start.

A 40% deposit is payable once you decide to proceed with the project after trialing the first version of your new site.

You will also need to pay your website hosting and domain name registration fees. Refer to the Ongoing Costs section below.

  • Single page sites can be scrollable to include all your information, however visitors to your site will become frustrated if they need to scroll through too much information to find what they are looking for. In this case, a multi-page, easy-to-navigate site will be more user-friendly. These sites are typically between 5 and 10 separate pages.

  • We build new websites for small businesses, organisations and groups who are providing services in Australia. They are ‘information only’ sites. For example, we do not build online stores. Refer to About Us for more information.

We can also build wedding and CV sites.

  • Absolutely. We build you one website which looks great and works well regardless of whether it is accessed via a computer, phone or tablet.

  • Your site will be developed using Squarespace, a website building and hosting platform that has launched millions of sites around the world since it began in 2003.

We will set you up with a free Squarespace account so you can take ownership of your site.

  • Absolutely not but you will need to pay annual web hosting and domain registration fees to Squarespace simply to keep your site running. These are costs that apply to any website regardless of who builds it and who hosts it.

Refer below to “What are the ongoing costs involved in running a website?” and “Can I cancel my site?”

  • You will need to pay your web hosting and domain registration fees every year that your site remains active. In most instances your domain name (website address) will be registered via Squarespace. Squarespace will also host (run) your website. So these ongoing payments will be made directly to Squarespace via a credit card attached to your site. Click here to read about Squarespace payment methods.

Your web hosting fee is based on your Squarespace ‘plan’. We start most clients on what’s called a personal plan as this is the cheapest plan and will easily meet the needs of most small businesses. The current yearly cost of a personal plan is $A192. In the unlikely event that you need your site to incorporate features from one of the more expensive plans, then this is easily done however you will incur the additional cost of whichever plan is needed. Click here to see all Squarespace plan fees.

Your custom domain registration/renewal fee will be between $A20 and $A70 per year depending on the domain name (website name) you have chosen. Your custom domain is free for the first year provided you pay for your web hosting on an annual (and not a monthly) basis.

Note that every Squarespace website comes with a free, built-in domain name that contains the word “Squarespace”. For example, the free domain name for this website is www.wbthinktank.squarespace.com.au. So if you are happy to use the built-in domain name, you will not incur any domain name registration fees - ever.

Web hosting and domain registration fees are the only ongoing costs associated with running your website. However, at any time in the future, if you need changes to the content of your site then a development cost will be charged by whoever does the work - this could be us or any other website developer that has the necessary Squarespace skills. The cost will depend on the nature of the changes you need to your site. There are no other ongoing costs, contracts etc.

  • Find out in Publishing Your Site

  • This depends on the complexity and the content of your site. However, a draft of a typical site usually takes between one and two weeks to build, then another week to complete the final version after we receive your feedback.

  • Yes. If there comes a time when you no longer need your website, it can be removed from the internet by cancelling your Squarespace subscription. You can do this very easily in a few minutes via your Squarespace account.

We can do this on your behalf if you wish.

  • Our work is limited to sites that communicate/advertise information about you and your small business or organisation. We do not build sites for eCommerce, online shopping, online bookings etc. Initial contact with us is through email only. Our business is then conducted by phone and online through Zoom and email. We work from home so our overheads are lower. We don’t meet you in person unless absolutely necessary but extra costs will be incurred. We also require payments be made to us by EFT to avoid unnecessary bank charges.

There are no hidden extras or ongoing contracts with us. However, there are the usual annual costs involved in hosting/running your site payable to Squarespace by credit card, not to us. Refer to the FAQ on Ongoing Costs.

  • Pay us for your site construction via EFT.

Pay Squarespace for your ongoing web hosting and domain name registration by secure credit card payment through your Squarespace account. We can help you to set this up.

  • Our service and prices are based on clients requiring a brand new website and domain name created under the Squarespace umbrella (refer to What is Squarespace? in the FAQs above).

Attempting to transfer or connect an exisiting third-party domain name to your new website can sometimes be very time consuming and therefore outside the price range of our service. However, we can make an assessment and determine the best course of action. A simpler alternative may be for us to register you a new domain name within Squarespace making for a much easier connection between that domain name and your new site. Your old domain name can be deregistered (assuming it is not is use).

We can easily register a new domain name for you within Squarespace which matches as closely as possible to your desired name. (Note that the domain registration fee is waived for the first 12 months with any new annual website subscription). We will give you a number of options to choose from which match as closely as possible with your desired name. For example if your business name is called Jane’s Garden Services then possible domain names might be www.janesgardenservices.com.au, www.janesgardens.com, www.janesgardening.com.au, www.gardensbyjane.com and so on. Your business name is unaffected and will display exactly as you want it to on the website.

Please note that there are special requirements around registering or connecting a domain name ending in .au to a Squarespace website. Click here for more details. There is no obligation to use a .au domain name. For example you may opt for a .com or .org (without the .au) domain name.

  • Yes - just supply us with whatever email address(es) you want to include as contact information on your site.

Please note that our service does not extend to setting up email accounts.

  • No. However we can build you a brand new site from the ground up that incorporates any information from your old site that you wish to retain.

  • We can include a blog as part of your site and help you learn how to create blog posts. We can also set you up with a blog post template to use as a basis for your posts.
